About Us

Scottish Grantmakers is a membership body which acts as an umbrella for a significant number of individual grantmaking trusts, foundations and other organisations which operate in Scotland.

The organisation was established in 1993 with a group of 12 grant makers, and now consists of over 58 members throughout Scotland.

Representatives of our member organisations meet on a regular basis to discuss issues of common concern and to share information.

Scottish Grantmakers’ charitable purposes are the promotion of the voluntary sector and the effectiveness or efficiency of charities, by:

  • fostering and informing good practice in the administration, governance and leadership of trusts and foundations which are grantmakers in Scotland,

  • affording opportunities to members for discussion, liaison, collaboration, education and networking, and

  • engaging in projects and activities designed to enhance and promote the foregoing purposes.

It should be noted that the Group does not, in itself, make grants or donations.
