Comic Relief

UK Funding

In the UK, Comic Relief funds work that aims to achieve at least one of our five themes. We do this by supporting organisations with the people, ideas and ability to tackle complex problems and create positive social change across the UK. Young people and older people are important to us, as are others who face disadvantage, particularly in areas with high levels of deprivation. We also welcome proposals from projects that use sport to transform lives.

The themes are:

  • Better Futures – work with vulnerable young people aged 11-24
  • Healthier Finances – tacking financial poverty
  • Fairer Society -ensuring people overcome inequality
  • Safer Lives – reducing violence, abuse and exploitation
  • Stronger Communities strengthening local communities through making small grants of up to £10,000 to small, locally based groups or organisations in areas of disadvantage

Comic Relief also funds work internationally, mainly in sub-Saharan Africa. Our 7 international goals are:

  •  Women aged 15-49 and children under 5 have improved health
  • Disadvantaged children and adults gain access to a good quality of education
  • Women and girls are equal and respected members of society
  • Slum dweller have an improved quality of life
